The Foundry - Advertising Agency

At the Foundry, robust campaign ideas are forged in a close relationship between agency and client.

From the raw materials of insight, instinct, passion and plain hard work we create communication strategies that are focused on delivering a commercial return. The Foundry is not a place where generic campaigns are hammered out on a production line. We believe that there is a unique insight to every brand.

The Foundry gets set to prosper in 2009 with new Sydney office and new staff

The Foundry has wound up its most successful year on record and is set for an even better 2009 with an office move and several new staff appointments in Sydney.

The Foundry’s Sydney team is now located at 56 Foster St, Surry Hills, taking up two floors of a spectacular warehouse building with rooftop terrace.

Existing staff are now joined there by new hires including creative duo Richard Kahotae and Ben Pearce, Senior Art Director Alan Nowak, Group Account Director Vanessa O’Brien and Account Manager Amber Martin.

“Despite so much talk of ‘doom and gloom’, 2009 is looking great for us,” says Simon Burrett, Managing Director of The Foundry.

“We’ve expanded our business with our new digital division, have hired several new staff across our Melbourne and Sydney offices and have some exciting plans in place with our brilliant clients including Snooze, BBQ Galore, Dick Smith and STIHL in the new year.”

The Foundry goes all-out to get Barbie on the roof

When The Foundry needed a new barbeque for its new rooftop entertaining area, we knew exactly who to call – client Barbeques Galore.

In no time, we were the proud owners of the top-of-the-line model, the Turbo Elite 5-Island with fridge, sink, table and returns

Only trouble was, the unit would not fit in our lift or our stairs.

After a tricky situation with a cherry-picker, in the end we had to hire a crane, block off the lane behind our new building and hoist the barbie piece-by-piece into position.

It was quite an operation, as you can see from these pics.

But now the unit is in place – we can already taste the steak!

Big dumb retail is dead

Retailers should act like hunters not herders to win customers back to their stores in the current difficult economic environment.

So said The Foundry’s managing director Simon Burrett, in a landmark presentation at the Australian Centre for Retail Studies Thought Leadership Series recently.

“Big, dumb retail is dead,” Simon said.

“No longer will we be able to build a big shop, make a big noise and expect customers to herd to our place. We need a new solution for a new customer”

Simon said today’s retailers need to be much more sophisticated to match the sophistication of their customers.

The speech was part of the ACRS Leadership Thought Series, which looks at key trends affecting the retail landscape.
