Brownie is the talent behind some of Australia’s best loved campaigns. From Telstra’s ‘We Are Australian’ to Tooheys ‘Bellybutton’ and now to Snooze’s ‘Mad World’, Brownie’s work reflects his desire to win the one award that matters most: the Barbeque Test.
Brownie’s mantra is that, beyond the recognised creative awards (of which he has also won more than his fair share), the ads that really count are those that engage with people so well that they talk about them around the barbeque, the water cooler, the tea room or the dinner table.
His success in reaching this goal of course goes well beyond TV ads. His career highlights include work in DM, outdoor, catalogues and radio that have captured the attention both of creative award judges and the average punter around the barbeque.
By the time he joined The Foundry, Ian Brown was already established as one of the region’s leading creative talents.
In four years at Singleton Ogilvy & Mather Sydney, Ian enjoyed creative control over no lesser suite of brands than Telstra and Lion Nathan. First as Group Creative Head and then Creative Director, Ian held responsibility over XXXX, Tooheys New, Swan Draught and Southwark Bitter while also controlling Telstra’s Brand, Business and Retail divisions.
Ian began his career in advertising at Ogilvy & Mather’s Auckland office, where his work for BMW, Unifoods and the Humane Society earned prestigious awards from around the world.
He then progressed to Colenso BBDO in Auckland and created award-winning work for clients including SkyCity Casino, Mazda, Frucor Beverages and Air New Zealand.
Today Ian is relishing the opportunity to apply his considerable creative influence to every single piece of The Foundry’s creative work. He enjoys close relationships with the senior parties of all of The Foundry’s clients.
